World Anti-graft day: MAUTH staff observe solidarity walk against corruption
Joining the global call for integrity, transparency and accountability, the staff of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH) Yola Saturday, assembled for a solidarity walk within the hospital premises.
The purpose was to Commemorate the World Anti-Corruption Day, a significant initiative aimed at fostering a corruption-free society.

The event witnessed the active participation of the hospital staff, echoing a unified voice against corruption.
Following the walk, the Residents Anti-corruption Commissioner, Adamawa State ICPC, James Goarge Lawal, took the podium emphasizing the critical role of behavioral change in mitigating corruption, stressing the need for collective action and ethical conduct in all spheres of life.
Dr. Maisaratu Bakari, the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) Clinicals, representing the Acting Chief Medical Director Dr. Ahmadu Baba Usman highlighted the magnitude of destruction of corruption and reiterated the management’s unwavering dedication to eradicating corruption from its roots.
Sanusi Rufai, the Acting Head of Administration at the hospital, stressed that the hospital has blocked the cracks that could create condition for corruption to prosper by reward excellence and challenging bad service, given as reason for the integrity compliance ranking of the hospital by the ICPC as the first among the teaching hospitals in the country.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the Anti-corruption and transparency monitoring unit (ACTU) of the hospital, as convener of the sensitisation event in collaboration with the ICPC, Dr Aminu MC Tahir lamented that corruption is a cancer that has eaten deep into the fabric of the country as a cause of indiscipline, insecurity, bad governance and underdevelopement, he called on the citizenry to actively participate in the war against the pandemic lest it consumes the country
The solidarity walk and subsequent speeches echoed a collective determination to combat corruption, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to integrity, accountability and transparency.
The event stands as a testament to the unwavering resolve of MAUTH Yola to create a corruption-free environment for its staff and patients as stakeholders.
