Adamawa: BIR boss, ex-CITN chair bag SWIT merit award of excellence
The executive chairman of Adamawa State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) Hamman Adama Njabari has bagged the Society for Women in Taxation (SWIT) merit award of excellence for his indefatigable efforts and contributions towards the birth of the organization in Adamawa State.
Similarly, the Immediate Past Chairman of Chartered Institute of Taxation (CITN) Yola and district society, Mr. Maxwell Wamanda was also conferred with merit award of excellence.

Speaking shortly after the award presentation to the two individuals, the state coordinator of SWIT, Grace Benjamin said the gesture was in appreciation of the laudable contributions the duo made towards the formation and Sustainability of SWIT in Adamawa State.
“First and foremost, we sincerely appreciate the executive chairman, Adamawa State Board of Internal Revenue who was the one that sponsored all our programs. In view of this we are awarding him our life patron, we are indeed grateful.
“We also appreciate our patron who has followed us in almost all our programs that we say thank you. We also appreciate the financial support from the permanent secretary ministry of finance and the director of finance ABIR who are our members. We will not forget the support of the chairman CITN Yola and district society,” she said.
Appreciating the award, the executive chairman of Adamawa State Board of Internal Revenue, who was represented by the chairman of CITN Yola and district society, Abubakar Bobboi vowed to continue to champion the cause of SWIT throughout his lifetime.
He expressed confidence with the caliber of personalities who make the SWIT membership in Yola noting that with such personalities, the sky will be the stepping stone for the organization.
Also expressing his ecstasy over the award, the immediate past chairman of CITN Yola and district society, Maxwell Wamanda said he was happy to see the child he nurtured is growing rapidly.
He expressed happiness that SWIT is now incorporated into the CITN Yola and district family urging them to embrace the spirit of unity and cooperation for the society to grow from strength to strength.
Wammanda said such cooperation and harmonious coexistence was the underlying reason for the success of the CITN Yola and district society noting that Yola district became the best district amongst 45 others due to the tenacity of purpose and unity amongst members.
While giving a brief overview of SWIT and it’s activities in Adamawa, Fatima Bello Raji, the secretary general of the society said SWIT was the brainchild of the CITN whose guidance and support was responsible for its birth.
She also thanked the chairman BIR for sponsoring the trip of members of SWIT to Abuja CITN conference in Abuja where they were inaugurated as the substantive exco of the organization in Adamawa State.
She noted that since its coming, SWIT has carried out a number of activities including advocacy visits to various MDAs including ministry of finance, office of accountant general and board of internal revenue amongst many others and intimated them about the organization and its goals.
Raji also said the SWIT has rolled out sensitization visit to Jimeta ultra modern, trained members the rudiments of taxation in the formal and informal sectors, carried out sensitization walk and opened a bank account amongst many other engagements.
