Error bombing: CPS calls for holistic investigation, compensation to victims

The Centre for Promotion of Shari’ah (CPS) has called on the federal government to ensure holistic inquest into the ugly bombing of innocent citizens of Kaduna State with a view to unravel the truth behind the fatal error.

The group in a statement signed by
Aliyu Ibrahim Altukri, its Chairman and made available to this medium sympathized with the family of the victims, the Federal Government, the government, people of Kaduna State, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Muslim Ummah and the generality of Nigerians over the unfortunate drone attack on armless Nigerians celebrating Maulid in Tudun Biri community of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State last week.

Bombing of civilians will never be tolerated again, Tinubu warns NA

“We at the CPS appreciate the military and all other national institutions that play key roles in our national life. We commend them where they are right and condone their genuine mistakes that are clearly due to human factor. However, the incessant “mistakes” of the
military in killing innocent civilians across many states over the years have become worrisome.

“The claim by the military authorities that bandits or terrorists exist in the
community will not justify such an indiscriminate attack. Bandits do not move with their women and children and there was no distress call from the community that they were under attack by bandits.

“We call on the Federal Government to rise to the occasion by constituting an independent or judicial commission of inquiry in line with the global best practices in all civilized nations.

“It will be wrong to allow the military that is accused of wrongdoing to probe itself. Those found wanting should be prosecuted to serve as deterrence. The Federal Government should pay full compensation to the victims/their families.

“We appeal to all Muslims and well-meaning Nigerians to sustain the pressure on the Federal Government till justice is done.

“We pray to the Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of those killed and grant quick recovery to the injured ones,”
