22-yr-old health worker, commits suicide over death of boyfriend in Adamawa

A 22-year-old resident of Viniklang in Girei local government of Adamawa State, Florence Vandi, has reportedly committed suicide over the death of her boyfriend.

Reports by the state police command indicated that the deceased lady who is also a health worker decided to end it by consuming a poisonous rat killer known in local parlance as “Otapiapia”.

A statement by the image maker of the command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje said the incident took place on Tuesday 12 December, 2023.

According to the statement, the late health worker, an indigene of Michika LGA, took the unfortunate decision few hours to the death of her boyfriend known as Nuhu Boniface who died after a brief illness while receiving treatment at the Hospital.

“Investigation further revealed that until her death, Florence was a Health Worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola who expressed sadness over the incident, advised members of the public to avoid taking laws into their hands and report any suspicious movement around their neighborhood to the police,” the statement said.
