Namadi Sambo, Dambazau endorse LND, say its birth timely, strategic
The League of Northern Democrats (LND), a brainchild of the foremost academic cum politician, Dr. Umar Ardo has been gaining considerable traction as northern elites have continued to embrace the group in order to find a lasting solution to the crippling challenges bedeviling the north.
Notable northern elites including, Former vice president, Arc Namadi Sambo and former chief of army staff, Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) are the latest elites who endorsed the group noting that with the wisdom, foresight, tenacity and educational profundity of the convener, they are optimistic that the group will provide a pathway for the social and economic rejuvenation of the North.

In his letter of endorsement, Namadi Sambo who described the formation of the group as Apt and strategic believed that in the group, lies the solutions to the region’s endemic challenges.
“I’m particularly impressed with the initiative and noble goals that LND is set to achieve. No doubt as a region, we are faced with plethora of challenges that have bedevilled our growth and development.
“It is very worrisome to note how insecurity has crippled agriculture while threatening education and health of our children and women and these have continued to widen the net of poverty, and inequality amongst the people of the north and indeed the entire country despite several efforts by the at the federal and regional levels the challenges remained unabated.
“This calls for concerted efforts by stakeholders and non state actors to end the menace in order to compliment the effort of the government.
“If is on this note that I commend the foresight and initiative of the LND for the formation of this important group. The timing is right and the goals of league are both Apt and strategic irrespective of our political and religious lineage,” he said.
Also eulogizing the initiative in his letter of endorsement and acceptance, Dambazau said the formation of the group is timely and crucial in view of the infernal challenges rocking the region.
“I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for your invitation to be part of the LND. The formation of such group is indeed timely and crucial.
“The deteriorating conditions in the whole of northern Nigeria which include insecurity, banditry, illiteracy endemic poverty, drug abuse, proliferation of arms and collapse of our institutions require urgent and coordinated action.
“LND presents an opportunity to galvanize efforts of our leaders and stakeholders to address these challenges and reposition the north for a more prosperous future,” he said.
