FMC B-Kudu honours three retired Nurses

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Birnin Kudu chapter of the Nurses and Midwives Welfare Scheme has celebrated the meritorious exit from the service of three of their registered members.

The event took place at the premises of the hospital on Thursday.

Our correspondent reports that the exiting staff were registered nurses Hajiya Lami Aliyu Suleiman, Hajiya Amina Salisu and Comrade Abubakar Musa Giade who retired from the service after 35 years in service.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the chapter of nurses and midwives, Comrade Mustapha Wurno, represented by his secretary, Malam Aliyu Umar Yusuf said, the retiring staff deserved to be formally recognized considering their unwavering contributions to the centre.

He explained that the scheme would continue to celebrate its members especially those who put in their best in their professional callings, adding “retirement is the climax of the public service hence the need to celebrate them.”

Aliyu, used the occasion to thank the management of the facility under the credible leadership of Dr Adamu Abdullahi Atterwharmie for providing the enabling environment which made the retiring staff nurses to realize their potentials and exhibit their God given talents in healthcare delivery.

Dr. Atterwharmie, Medical Director of the Center, represented by the Head of Clinical Services Dr Halima Ibrahim Umar commended the retired staff nurses for their commitment and dedication to duty.

She described the outgoing staff as embodiment of courage determination, hard work and humility, saying they ought to be celebrated and recognised for their selfless service to the nation.

“We will continue to remember them as staff who sacrificed their comfort for the sake of humanity, I know them personally and I have interacted with them at private and official levels,” she said.

She urged other staff of the hospital to emulate them by being committed and dedicated to their duties, saying the management of the facility would continue to provide a level playing ground for all staff irrespective of tribal, religious or sectional considerations.

Responding individually, the outgoing staff nurses described the event as a mark of honour to them and thanked the organisers for recognizing them in such a dignified manner.

Highlight of the event were drama shows and presentation of souvenirs which included three brand new refrigerators and other items in recognition of their positive impact to the profession.
