Taura LG chair lauds FMC B-Kudu for timely treatment of victims of tanker explosion

Taura Local Government Council in Jigawa State has commended the management and staff of the Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu for proper handling and the treatment of some of the victims of the recent fire incident in Majiya Community of the area.

Honourable Shuaibu Hambali, the council chairman made the commendation in Majiya on Thursday when the management of the hospital led by the Medical Director Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie paid a condolence visit to the community.

He said the rapid response with which the staff of the hospital recieved the fire victims was highly commendable, saying it is only God that will reward you.

The council boss, also expressed joy that the Management of the Federal Medical Center have taken over the management of the newly constructed 120 bed capacity Child and Maternal Health Center provided the Federal government under the sustainable Development Goals.

“We are very proud of the medical center for deploying human and material resources to the maternal center which is currently operational,” he said .

“The community has provided housing accommodation for the deployed staffs and we would provide more to make the movement of the hospital staffs easier.

The chairman explained that twelve out of the 81 victims who survived the incident are presently recieving medical attention at FMC Birnin Kudu while others have been admitted at the Nguru, Azare and Malam Aminu Kano Teaching hospital.

According to him, the fire incident was caused by a tanker conveying (Premium Motor Spirit) popularly called petroleum which summersaults adjacent to the privately owned Khadijah University.

He added that some of the victims were caught up by the raging fire when they went to scoop the discharged contents, ” You know petroleum is highly inflammable.

He noted that so far 168 persons who lost their lives had since been given mass burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.
