In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard lives and property across Adamawa. The statement emphasized that peace and security in all communities remain paramount in the command’s operational priorities.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the immediate deployment of security personnel to Rigange to restore normalcy and forestall any further breakdown of law and order.

“We warn all individuals and groups involved to desist from any action capable of breaching public peace,” the statement further disclosed.

Though the precise cause of the clash has yet to be officially established, local sources suggest it may stem from longstanding disputes within the area.

Tensions had reportedly been building in recent weeks, raising concerns among community leaders and residents before boiling over into open violence.

The command stressed its zero-tolerance  on violence and communal unrest, warning that anyone found instigating conflict or taking the law into their own hands will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.

In a bid to de-escalate the situation, the police called on traditional rulers, youth leaders, and relevant stakeholders in Lamurde LGA to support peacebuilding efforts and encourage dialogue between the feuding communities.

Residents of Rigange and surrounding areas have been urged to remain calm and cooperate fully with security personnel deployed to the area. The command also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity that could threaten the fragile peace in the region.
