I still respect you: Adamawa CP tells murder suspect to allay bad-blood over viral rebuke
In a suitable penitence to allay deepening suspicion and bad blood, Adamawa State commissioner of police, Dankombo Morris was heard in a viral voice note pleading with a prime murder suspect Emmanuel Musa not to see his recent attitude towards him as betrayal but rather as an effort to preserve himself.
The CP’s riposte came on the heels of an ongoing high-profile murder case of a PDP youth leader in Hong LG, Thomas Godwin, aka Zamfara who was killed on April 15, 2025.

In a voice note that has gone viral, Emmanuel Musa who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Yola alongside three others over the murder of Zamfara in a seeming meltdown was heard sharply rebuking the CP and accusing him of betrayal in his hour of need despite the mosaic of support he has rendered to him including championing his appointment as CP in Adamawa State.
This paper learnt that Emmanuel Musa who was arraigned and remanded by a Magistrate Court III in Yola, has been taken to Abuja following an order from above.

“CP Dankombo I wish you’re fine. I will never wish you evil or bad thing to befell you. I’m not a wicked soul and I’m not a murderer. I’m surprised that you have consistently refused to pick my calls. I have never call to ask for your help regarding my case. I only called you to get updates. You told me that the governor has threatened you over the matter and I confronted the governor and he affirmed what you said.
“But the governor is very selfish. He has forgotten that a number of people were killed because of him but he never ordered investigation. I single handedly killed the case involving the violent maltreatment of DSS and INEC officials without collecting a dime from the governor otherwise those people would have lost their jobs.
“You and the governor also forgot how you came to Adamawa State. You should know that you may need those who pushed you up when you want to come down. Write it down that a time will come when you will desperately need to see me. You need me more than I need you.
“Ask the CP’s and AIGs that have retired. Up till now I enjoyed robust relationship with them and I still extend hand of fellowship to them. I’m not the type of person that ignored others after they are no more useful. I keep life time relations. I take you as brother and father figure.
“You told me that you would like to build your retiring home in Adamawa we have a long way to go. I’m only 35 years old. Where was the governor and the speaker when they were 35? You know how they were fared then. The governor was a black marketer of petrol and up till now he is still in the Black book of many people. The speaker was selling blocks and I squatted him in my boys quarters.
“When did they became members of house of assembly and when did Fintiri became a governor? I’m not desperately looking for the governor’s seat but thank God I had in my short life built an impregnable capacity. Even if I die today, I have made history of success in my life.
“I did not kill anyone nor send people to kill anyone. But I’m disappointed in you. Even your staff have made you object of ridicule and the DC that was posted to Lagos told me he has never seen a wicked man like you. He told me amidst sobs and I have to give him money to move to Lagos.
“I didn’t help him because I want a payback but I want to remain responsive and helpful to those I know. You seem to underrate my capacity to hurt you. And I can put you in trouble which even the governor, the senator and speaker can’t remove you from.
“But I’m not a wicked soul. Even my mother heard that you are not picking my calls because you want to put me in trouble. You are not the person in charge of the case it is your boys. I only want to get updates. I know the role you played in putting my boys under duress to indict me.
“They were inflicted with bruises and were threatened at gunpoint to indict me because of the government interest in the case. CP remember everyone will die and the governor should know that the murdered man is involved in witchcraft and has also killed many people physically which many know. In my presence he stabbed someone to death and stabbed another to a state of coma. Idi Hong was the person who treated the injured person. But it is trite that because of the death of this person I don’t know whether he died by accident or was killed by avengers that you are putting me into this,” he said.
But in a 4 minutes 35 seconds riposte by the CP published by TGNews, the commissioner was vigorously heard trying to absolve himself from betrayal noting that his action was a self preservation strategy.
Zamfara was reportedly ambushed while riding a motorcycle from Fadama Rake to Kala’a, beaten into a coma, and later died in hospital. The First Information Report (FIR) alleges that Dr. Musa instigated and funded the attack, a claim that has sparked significant public interest given his reputation for philanthropy and political ambitions.

In the latest voice note, CP Dankombo addresses Dr. Musa’s accusations that the commissioner has been ignoring his phone calls during this critical period.
Identifying himself in the recording, Dankombo expresses respect for Musa, acknowledging his past support, stating, “You have helped me a lot. My coming here was because of you.”
However, he emphasizes that his “job is at stake” and distances himself from any betrayal, saying, “I will never do something that will hurt you… Who am I to betray you?”
Dankombo clarifies that the investigation into Zamfara’s murder is no longer under his direct control. He explains that the case, initially handled by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Yola, was transferred to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Force Intelligence following a petition by the deceased’s brother.
“Police started the investigation here in Yola at CID before the deceased brother wrote a petition to transfer the case, and IG directed the DIG Force Intelligence to take over,” Dankombo says.
The commissioner also addresses Musa’s concerns about being implicated in the suspects’ torture, firmly denying any involvement: “How would they say their torture was planned with me?” He further reveals that both his and Musa’s phone calls are being monitored, explaining his reluctance to answer Musa’s calls.
“Your phone calls are being monitored. My phone number and yours are tracked, so any conversations will be out there. That’s why I don’t want to pick your calls, not that I’ve betrayed you,” he states, adding, “Your trivials are beyond my power.”

The CP’s assertions that it’s beyond his power show an intricacy in the ongoing case, as it is perceived to be highly motivated by powerful forces who are either in pursuit of justice or making deliberate efforts to bring Dr. Emmanuel Musa down.
