Trusted technocrat and Bridge-builder, Gaman John, emerges ADC secretary In Adamawa

Yola, Adamawa — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has appointed Gaman John as Secretary of its newly constituted Interim State Working Committee — a move widely seen as the party’s effort to inject credibility, balance, and strategic depth into its leadership structure ahead of future elections.
Insiders describe John’s selection as “a deliberate choice of competence and trustworthiness” — a recognition of his long record of public service, development work, and political moderation across party lines.

A respected technocrat and development professional, John previously served under former Governor Murtala Nyako at the Special Projects and Programmes Unit (SPPU) of the Adamawa Government House, where he was Senior Special Assistant on Project Monitoring and Evaluation (2008–2011) and later Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment and Mobilization (2011–2014). Those years, colleagues say, built his reputation for discretion, efficiency, and loyalty.
Politically, he is regarded as a unifier and bridge-builder who maintains cordial relations with key political figures and chieftains across the state’s major parties. His inclusive outlook and respect for leadership at all levels have earned him goodwill across divides — a trait many describe as rare and valuable in today’s political climate.
Beyond politics, John’s influence extends deep into the community. A committed member of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) — one of the largest Christian denominations in the state with over two million followers — he commands broad moral and social credibility. Coming from Song Local Government Area in Adamawa Central Zone, his inclusion in the ADC caretaker leadership adds both regional balance and grassroots legitimacy to the party’s evolving structure.
Professionally, John currently serves as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist with the North-East Development Commission’s Regional Stability Project (NEDC-NERSP), where he helps coordinate multi-sectoral programs aimed at rebuilding communities devastated by insurgency and displacement.
Before that, he held senior monitoring and evaluation roles with the World Bank-supported Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project, the Victims Support Fund (VSF), the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), and the North-East Recovery and Peace-building Assessment (UN/EU/WB/FG).
Born in Dumne, Song LGA, John earned a B.Tech (Hons) and M.Tech in Operations Research from Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola. He has trained internationally and locally in Project Management (PMP), Monitoring and Evaluation, and Peace and Conflict Studies — including sessions with Bond Training, London (2009) and the National Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, Abuja (2018).
With his mix of technocratic experience, grassroots appeal, and cross-party relationships, Gaman John represents a new generation of leaders redefining politics in Adamawa — professionals who combine governance expertise with humility, respect for others, and a shared vision for inclusive development.
