Atiku’s support for Dasin cttee does not undermine Komsiri’s legitimacy – Jada

The National Assistant Organizing Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and North East Zonal Organizing Secretary, Umar Bello Jada, popularly known as Calculate, has clarified that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s support for the Hon. Sadiq Dasin-led Transition Committee does not in any way affect the legitimacy of the Saidu Komsiri-led caretaker committee of the party in Adamawa State.
In a phone chat with our reporter, Jada explained that some individuals have either “ignorantly or mischievously” misunderstood the functions of the two committees, leading to unnecessary confusion within the party.

He emphasized that both committees were established under different constitutional provisions and with distinct mandates.
According to him, the Dasin-led Transition Committee is an advisory body constituted across all 36 state chapters of the ADC. Its role, he said, is primarily to offer mediation, reconciliation, and organizational support to the existing party structures nationwide.
In contrast, Jada noted, the Komsiri-led caretaker committee was duly appointed to replace the Shehu Yohanna-led interim leadership and to act in that capacity until the conduct of congresses at the state level.
“They are two distinct and separate party instruments with different mandates and scopes of operation. We advise Waziri to carefully go through the transition guidelines to fully understand his mandate as a member of that committee. None of the transition committee members were sworn in as state executives, and they cannot act in that capacity,” he said.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had, on his verified Facebook page, congratulated Hon. Sadiq Dasin and Mrs. Blaise Hungushi Osagie on their inauguration as Chairman and Secretary of the Adamawa State Transition Implementation Committee of the ADC. The Dasin-led exco was inaugurated on Saturday, October 25, 2025 by the North East national Vice chairman of the party, Eng Babachir David Lawal.
In his post, Atiku expressed optimism that the inauguration of the Dasin-led committee would strengthen the party’s internal structure and promote unity among its members in Adamawa State.
“It is my hope and prayer that their inauguration will strengthen our party’s structure and unify all ADC members in Adamawa State. I fully and unequivocally support this leadership as inaugurated,” Atiku wrote.
He further urged all ADC members and stakeholders to rally behind the committee and focus on building a credible opposition capable of delivering better governance to the people of Adamawa and Nigeria at large.
