MMPN urges govt to balance opportunities for faiths in Adamawa
Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Adamawa State Chapter, have called on state governments and relevant authorities to look at alleged marginalization of Muslims, particularly in public sector appointments and recruitment exercises as part of efforts to promote fairness, unity and social cohesion.
The call was made at the end of the first General Assembly Meeting of the association held on Sunday, 21st December 2025, where stakeholders deliberated extensively on challenges confronting Muslim communities in the state and beyond.
According to the communiqué issued after the meeting, participants identified several factors undermining cohesion, coordination and productivity among Muslims.

These include lack of empowerment, ignorance, marginalization, stereotyping, laxity and undue political interference.
They urged governments at all levels to ensure equal opportunities for Muslims and other citizens without discrimination, especially in appointments, employment and access to education.
The meeting further emphasized the need for Muslims to set aside internal differences and work together under a common platform, noting that religion remains the most important pillar that provides direction and coordination for the Muslim world.
In this regard, Muslim media practitioners were encouraged to deploy their platforms and professional reach to set constructive agenda that would foster unity and collective action in addressing shared challenges.
On the issue of street begging and the Almajiri phenomenon, the association proposed targeted community outreaches to engage parents and guardians, with a view to sensitizing them on the dangers of allowing children to roam the streets. To complement this effort, the practitioners pledged to launch intensive radio awareness programmes focused on good parenting and responsible child upbringing.
The communiqué also appealed to wealthy Muslims and Islamic organizations to prioritize empowerment initiatives, particularly for Muslim youths, through skills acquisition, ICT training and other vocational opportunities capable of enhancing self-reliance.
Additionally, participants urged Muslim media practitioners to uphold the ethics of truth, fairness and responsibility in line with Islamic principles, while also promoting unity and understanding within the Muslim community. Muslim political office holders were equally advised to place the interest of Islam above partisan considerations.
The meeting urged sustained sensitization of Muslim youths against the spread of fake news, warning of its dangerous consequences for society.
