Christmas: Bishop Mamza donates live cow, drugs, others to Jimeta custodial inmates
In the spirit of Christmas and compassion for the less privileged, the Bishop of the Yola Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Stephen Dami Mamza, has donated a variety of essential items to inmates of the Jimeta Custodial Centre in Adamawa State.
The donation, which took place on Wednesday, include; a live cow, drugs, plastic buckets, toilet slippers and soaps.

Speaking during the presentation, Bishop Mamza explained that the gesture was part of his annual Christmas outreach aimed at bringing hope, joy and a sense of belonging to inmates during the festive season.
He said the initiative was designed to remind those in custody that they are still valued members of society and deserve care, dignity and love.
According to the cleric, Christmas is a season of sharing and reflection, and it was important that inmates are not excluded from the celebration.
He noted that many of the inmates found themselves behind bars not necessarily because they were hardened criminals, but due to circumstances and misfortunes beyond their control.
He said some people are victims of ill fate adding that life has different turns, and anyone can find himself in such a situation.
He encouraged the inmates to remain hopeful and resilient despite their current challenges, stressing that their present condition does not define their entire lives.
The Bishop also used the occasion to counsel inmates who had committed offences to genuinely reflect on their actions and embrace positive change.
He urged them to see their time in custody as an opportunity for personal reform, spiritual growth and preparation for reintegration into society.
Receiving the items on behalf of the custodial facility, the Acting Controller of the Jimeta Custodial Centre, Superintendent Benjamin Reuben, expressed deep appreciation to Bishop Mamza and the Yola Diocese for the consistent support extended to the inmates over the years.
He described the donation as timely and impactful, especially during the Christmas period when resources are often stretched.
Superintendent Reuben noted that such acts of kindness go a long way in boosting the morale of inmates and improving their welfare.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the Bishop and his humanitarian efforts, while assuring that the donated items would be judiciously utilized for the benefit of the inmates.
