Christmas: Adamawa Politicians Sensitise Constituents on PVC Registration Ahead of 2027

As part of activities marking the 2025 Christmas celebrations, the majority of political office holders and aspirants at both state and federal levels in Adamawa State have taken advantage of the festive season to intensify sensitisation campaigns on the importance of voter registration and collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Beyond the usual empowerment programmes, health outreaches and distribution of Christmas gifts, many of the politicians used the gatherings to educate their constituents on the power of the PVC as a critical tool for democratic participation.

They emphasised that active voter registration remains the most effective means of holding leaders accountable and rooting out selfish and corrupt politicians in the coming elections.
In Guyuk and Shelleng Local Government Areas, a House of Representatives aspirant, Golfa Mallim, held strategic meetings with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government chairmen and ward chairmen, where stakeholders brainstormed on effective ways of mobilising residents to register and collect their PVCs.
Addressing party leaders, Mallim challenged constituents to look beyond short-term inducements, asking rhetorically, “If politicians give you rice, wrappers or money in the name of Christmas gifts—things that last only for a moment—what happens after that?”
He stressed that sustainable development, good governance and improved living standards can only be achieved when citizens exercise their voting rights responsibly.
Mallim called on party structures at all levels to take the PVC sensitisation campaign to the grassroots, noting that an informed electorate is key to strengthening democracy in Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.
The Christmas-season engagements across the state reflect a growing emphasis on civic responsibility, with political actors urging citizens to prioritise their future by actively participating in the electoral process as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.o
Mallim also held extensive engagements with Fulani traditional leaders, popularly known as Ardos, across Guyuk and Shelleng Local Government Areas.
During the meetings, issues of mutual interest bordering on their welfare, security, livestock development and peaceful coexistence were discussed.
Mallim assured the traditional leaders of her commitment to inclusive representation and pledged to continually amplify their concerns within relevant political and policy-making circles.
The Ardos, in their separate remarks, described the engagement as historic, noting that it was the first time a politician in the area convened a meeting of such magnitude with Fulani traditional leaders.
They expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a sign of respect, inclusiveness and genuine concern for their wellbeing. The leaders called on other political actors to emulate Mallim’s approach, stressing that sustained dialogue remains key to unity, development and effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.
