Arch Bishop Filibus condemns recent spike of violent attacks decries killing of 27 in Adamawa
The Archbishop of The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, (LCCN), Musa Panti Filibus, has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence in parts of the country, describing the destruction of innocent lives as a grave violation of God’s divine order.
Speaking at the 101st Annual National Convention of the Church on February 26, 2026, the Archbishop said the gathering was taking place under the shadow of painful national tragedies that highlight the urgent need for justice, peace and mercy in Nigeria.

He expressed deep sorrow over the reported joint attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP on Krichinga and Shuwari Sholi communities in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State on February 24 and 25, which claimed at least 27 lives and displaced many residents.
He also lamented the attack on Garahamojili community in Hong Local Government Area on February 21.
“Every human life is sacred, created in the image of God,” he stated, stressing that violence against innocent citizens is not merely a crime but a serious moral and spiritual failing.
While commending government and security agencies for their sacrifices in the fight against insurgency, Archbishop Filibus urged them to intensify efforts to protect lives and dignity, describing security as not just a civic responsibility but a sacred duty. He called for decisive steps to tackle the root causes of terrorism to prevent further bloodshed.
The Archbishop also mourned a motor accident on February 23 involving members of the Church from Simra community of LCCN Dumne Division, Shall-Holma Diocese, which claimed four lives and left nearly 30 others injured. He confirmed that the Church ensured prompt medical attention for the victims.
A special prayer session was held for the victims and their families, as the Church reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the sanctity of life and advocate for justice and peace across the nation.
