Adamawa youths call for power shift to central zone, urge Galadima to join 2027 guber race
• Extends food, cash support to hundreds of residents
A coalition of youth groups in Adamawa State, operating under the banner of the Tijjani Galadima Youth Forum, has called for a political power shift to Adamawa Central Senatorial District, specifically Yola South in the lead-up to the 2027 governorship election.
The group also urged Tijjani Galadima, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), to contest for the state’s top seat.

The call was made during a large-scale humanitarian outreach organized by the forum, where food items and cash were distributed to about 500 residents across different communities.
The initiative, described by organizers as part of their Sallah package, saw 300 beneficiaries receiving 25kg bags of rice along with N50,000 each, while the remaining 200 individuals were given N50,000 cash support.
The youths said their decision to publicly endorse Galadima stems from what they described as his proven track record, integrity, and capacity to lead.
They emphasized the need for Adamawa Central to produce the next governor, arguing that equity and inclusiveness in leadership rotation are essential for sustained peace and development in the state.
According to them, Galadima represents the kind of leadership the state needs at this critical time, one grounded in experience, competence, and a people-oriented approach.
They maintained that he possesses both the courage and the vision required to build on existing development strides.
Speaking at the event, Abdurrashid Abubakar, a prominent supporter of the movement, commended the organizers for what he described as a far-reaching and impactful Sallah intervention.
He noted that the outreach reflected the organizers commitment to humanitarian service and grassroots engagement.
Abubakar further described Galadima as a calm, peace-loving, and progressive-minded leader whose leadership style resonates with the aspirations of the people. He stressed that the youth remain a critical pillar in the political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that their collective voice would play a decisive role in shaping the party’s future.
In a related remark, Engr. Dahiru Adamu, who was represented by Mohammed Saidu, disclosed that consultations were ongoing among stakeholders across the state to build consensus around Galadima’s potential candidacy.
He explained that the push for a candidate from Yola South is rooted in a broader desire to ensure that Adamawa Central also benefits from the state’s leadership arrangement.
Adding his voice, Ashraf Halilu Kawu, a youth leader from Yola South, described Galadima as a “formidable political force” with widespread support cutting across all parts of the state.
He revealed that the group was committed to mobilize resources, including purchasing nomination forms, to encourage him to join the race.
Similarly, Aliyu Haidar, Organizing Secretary of the forum, recounted how the movement began with just a few individuals but has since expanded into a statewide campaign vehicle.
He highlighted Galadima’s contributions to education and youth empowerment, citing several instances where students benefitted from his support.
Other stakeholders, including Safwan Abdallah from Yola North and Mustapha Ibrahim, a grain dealer, also expressed strong backing for the proposed candidacy. They pointed to Galadima’s generosity, humility, and developmental impact as reasons he stands out among potential contenders.
A number of stakeholders including Dahiru Hammandikko, a renowned APC stalwart pledged to continue the clarion call on Galadima to contest the guvernorship position till result is obtained.
They noted that even in Islam a leader is usually nominated by people and when an overwhelming majority endorse a candidate, he has no choice other than to heed their calls expressing optimism that Galadima will not disappoint them.
