Galadima receives heroic welcome in Yola, says guber ambition borne out of popular call
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Tijjani Galadima has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship of Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections, receiving a rousing welcome from supporters in Yola.
Galadima made his declaration shortly after arriving in the state capital, where a large crowd of party loyalists, youth groups, women, and well-wishers gathered to receive him in what observers described as a strong early show of political strength.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement, as chants and cheers filled the air, signaling growing grassroots momentum for his ambition.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Galadima said his decision to join the governorship race was driven by sustained calls from the people of Adamawa, stressing that his ambition goes beyond personal interest. He framed his candidacy as a response to a collective yearning for responsive leadership and sustainable development.
“The people have called, and I have answered. This is not just about politics; it is about shaping the future of our state, empowering our youth, and restoring hope in governance,” he said.
He expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support he has received across various communities, noting that the widespread acceptance of his aspiration reflects a shared desire for change and purposeful leadership. According to him, his campaign is anchored on unity, inclusiveness, and the determination to build a fair and people-centered system.
As part of activities marking his declaration, Galadima is set to commission an ultra-modern campaign office in Yola. The facility, he explained, will serve as a hub for grassroots mobilization, strategic engagement, and coordination of political activities across the state as the 2027 elections approach.
The event is expected to attract key stakeholders within the APC, including party executives, community leaders, and youth representatives, further underscoring what many see as an early consolidation of support ahead of the polls.
Galadima reaffirmed his commitment to delivering a stronger and more prosperous Adamawa, describing the journey to 2027 as “a mission powered by the people.” He emphasized that his administration, if elected, would prioritize development initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
Several prominent figures who spoke at the event threw their weight behind his candidacy. A former Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State Government, Professor Maxwell Gidado, declared that the Southern Zone stands firmly behind Galadima’s ambition, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the state effectively.
Also speaking, Ambassador Calvin Peter described the massive turnout as a clear demonstration of the broad appeal of Galadima’s message and leadership vision.
In his remarks, the lawmaker representing Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency, Abubakar Baba Zango, highlighted the historical imbalance in the state’s political leadership. He noted that since Nigeria’s creation, the Adamawa Central Zone has yet to produce an elected governor, calling on stakeholders to rally behind Galadima’s candidacy as both timely and justified.
Adding her voice, Bema Ovaldi, a member of the Federal Character Commission, expressed optimism about Galadima’s chances, pointing to the growing coalition of support cutting across ethnic, cultural, and community lines within Adamawa State.
With the 2027 race still ahead, Galadima’s declaration appears to have set the tone for what promises to be an engaging political contest in the state.
