Mega Coalition: Sen. Yaroe differs with PDP govs, vows to flow with constituents
As political discourse intensifies over the formation of a grand coalition aimed at dislodging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, has publicly expressed a divergent view from that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors.
Senator Yaroe has indicated that he will not wholeheartedly endorse the stance adopted by the PDP Governors’ Forum, which recently rejected the idea of forming alliances with other political parties.

The idea of a mega coalition has been gaining traction in recent weeks, with prominent political figures, including the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, advocating for opposition unity as a strategy to challenge the dominance of the APC.
However, a meeting of PDP governors, led by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, resulted in a collective decision to stay away from the coalition talks. The governors emphasized the importance of focusing on strengthening the PDP rather than exploring partnerships with other political groups.
But in contrast to the position of the governors which governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri also subscribed to, Senator Yaroe spoke to journalists at a breakfast meeting in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, where he made it clear that he does not share the position of the governors.
While Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, who is also a PDP member, aligns with the governors’ opposition to the coalition, Yaroe asserted that he would rather side with the people he represents on this matter.
He noted that the wishes of his constituents matter more to him than political alignments decided elsewhere.
Yaroe explained that the people of Adamawa South, like many Nigerians, will naturally have a position on the issue and as a patriot he will wholeheartedly subscribed to their position on the matter.
Both Senator Yaroe and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar hail from the same Adamawa South Senatorial zone.
