JSR: JSRT presents key legal documents to Adamawa CJ
As part of efforts to strengthens the Justice Sector Reform (JSR), enhance the swift dispensation of justice and tackle systemic challenges in the judicial sector, the Justice Sector Reform Team (JSRT) has presented two critical documents to the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdurrahman.
During an advocacy visit on Thursday, spokesperson of the team Barrister Fatima Raji, handed over the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law and the National Minimum Standard Document to the Chief Judge.

Raji explained that the VAPP Law document was provided through the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), while the minimum standard document came from the Center for Socio-Legal Studies.
She emphasized that the documents are key tools aimed at advancing the administration of criminal justice in the state.
According to Raji, the VAPP Law serves as a legal framework to tackle gender-based violence and protect vulnerable persons, while the National Minimum Standard Document provides a unified benchmark to improve the efficiency and fairness of criminal justice procedures.
“These two documents are not just pieces of papers but powerful instruments that will support the judiciary in delivering equitable justice and upholding the rights of all individuals, especially the marginalized,” she said.
Raji expressed confidence that the adoption and implementation of these documents would positively transform legal processes and enhance the capacity of judicial officers across the state.
In her response, Justice Hafsat Abdurrahman expressed appreciation to the JSRT for its continued support and advocacy for legal reforms in Adamawa State.
She commended the team’s efforts in facilitating practical tools that will support judges and other stakeholders in delivering justice more effectively.
The Chief Judge assured that the documents would be put to good use, stressing that her office remains committed to ensure justice is accessible, impartial, and timely.
“We will work diligently to ensure that these materials help us serve the people better and uphold the principle that everyone is equal before the law,” she stated.
