Only Gangwari Ganye can stand as surety as court grants N5m bail to Calculate
A Chief Magistrate Court in Adamawa State, presided by Justice Musa Alhaji, has granted bail to Hon. Umar Bello Jada, popularly known as “Calculate”, in the sum of ₦5 million. However, the court ruled that only first class traditional ruler precisely, Gangwari Ganye—His Royal Highness Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda—can serve as the surety.
The judge made the decision while ruling on a bail application brought forward by the counsel to Hon. Umar Bello Jada in a libel case of defamation filed by Sadiq Wali against the defendant.

The defense counsel Desmond Adebombo argued that the offence is bailable and urged the court to exercise its discretion to grant bail on lenient terms.
Agreeing with the argument, Justice Alhaji approved the bail but imposed strict conditions. He stated that while the bail is in effect, the surety—Gangwari Ganye—must ensure that Jada refrains from making any comments on social media related to the case or the complainant.
In addition, the court ordered that the defendant must not grant media interviews or make any statements, gestures, or insinuations that could harm the reputation of the complainant, Sadiq Wali.
The judge then fixed 17 May 2025 for the continuation of hearing.
