Sadiq Wali Vs Calculate: Sen Abbo vows to broker peace between father and son
Sen. Ishaku Abbo has stepped forward as a mediator, urging for calm and resolution in an ongoing legal tussle between elderstatesman, Alh Sadiq Wali and foremost Adamawa politician, Umar Bello Jada aka Calculate.
Describing the matter not as a political feud but as a “family misunderstanding,” Senator Abbo appealed for peace and reconciliation between Calculate and Alhaji Sadiq Wali, a respected elder in the state vowing to use his goodwill to ensure an end to further hostilities.
Speaking to journalists shortly after a court session, Senator Abbo noted that the initial ruling by a magistrate, which resulted in Calculate detention has been overturned.

Senator Abbo added that the issue at hand is rooted more in miscommunication than malice. He explained that the relationship between Alhaji Sadiq Wali and Calculate was long-standing and akin to that of father and son.
“This is not a political battle or personal vendetta. It’s a family matter that unfortunately found its way into the public eye. What’s important now is to seek peace, not further division,” he said.
Abbo also addressed his earlier live interview on the matter, acknowledging that he had spoken prematurely, without a full understanding of the facts.
“I reacted quickly, based on limited information. But after reading detailed reports and speaking with those involved, I realized there were gaps in my knowledge,” he said.
Highlighting the broader issues facing Nigeria, such as poverty and insecurity, Senator Abbo stressed the need for unity rather than internal conflict.
“With the crisis our country is going through, we cannot afford to be fighting ourselves. I believe that by the next court hearing on June 24, we will see the beginning of a peaceful resolution.”
Abbo commended the judiciary for upholding legal standards and not yielding to political pressure, calling the recent ruling a victory for due process and democratic values.
Meanwhile, Calculate’s legal team expressed strong criticism of the manner in which he was arrested.
“He was apprehended at the airport as if he were a criminal. No formal statement was taken, and no proper service was done before he was remanded,” a member of the legal team said.
The legal dispute stems from a petition over an allegedly defamatory audio involving Alhaji Sadiq Wali, a development that has sparked political tension across Adamawa State. However, with Senator Abbo’s intervention and a clear push for peace, there is cautious optimism that the dispute might end through dialogue rather than prolonged litigation.
