MAU Yola onboards 5,297 fresh students @ matriculation
Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has officially onboarded no fewer than 5,297 fresh students into its academic community for the 2024/2025 session.
The matriculation ceremony, held at the university’s campus, marked the formal commencement of academic life for the newly admitted students across various faculties.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Umar, congratulated the fresh students and reminded them that matriculation is not only a celebration but also a call to responsibility.
He emphasized the importance of upholding the core values of discipline, integrity, and academic excellence throughout their stay in the institution.
Professor Umar issued a stern warning against vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, fraud, indecent dressing, and other forms of misconduct, reiterating that the university operates a strict zero-tolerance policy on such infractions.
“University education is not just about acquiring certificates; it is a process of shaping your character and preparing you for societal contributions,” he said, urging students to remain focused, avoid distractions, and respect university rules and regulations.
The Vice Chancellor further assured parents and guardians that MAU Yola is committed to creating a safe and conducive learning environment that nurtures both academic achievement and personal growth.
As part of the ceremony, outstanding continuing students from different departments were recognized and awarded for their academic excellence. The gesture, the VC noted, was aimed at inspiring the fresh intakes to strive for excellence in their studies.
One of the key highlights of the event was the matriculation oath-taking, which formally integrated the new students into the university system.
The solemn oath signified their acceptance of the responsibilities and expectations that come with being a student of MAU Yola.
The ceremony was also marked by a grand academic procession involving Senate members and top university officials, in line with the institution’s deep-rooted academic traditions.
With this matriculation, the university encouraged the new students to embrace the numerous opportunities available on campus to grow intellectually, morally, and socially.
