Adamawa NCWS to honour Fintiri, deputy, speaker, others July 30
The Adamawa State chapter of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has announced plans to honour governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, his deputy, professor Kaletapwa Farauta, and the speaker Adamawa State house of assembly Rt. Hon Bathiya Wesley at a Grand Civic reception to honour Princess Edna D.D. Azura (Kwatam Mutaku), the 16th National President of the NCWS, who hails from Adamawa State.
The event is pencilled down to take place on 30th July, 2025 at the banquet hall government house Yola.

Other awardees include First Lady, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri; SSG Barr. Awwal D. Tukur; Chief Judge Justice Hapsatu Abdulrahman; Majority Leader Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno; and philanthropist Dr. Stephen Maduwa, among others.
During a press briefing at the NCWS Secretariat in Yola, Chief Mrs. Hogla Pentecost Agiso, the State President of NCWS, said the highly anticipated reception will honour excellence and exceptional service to mankind while amplifying the voices of women across Adamawa State and beyond.
She described Princess Edna Azura’s elevation as National President as a monumental achievement and a proud moment for women in Adamawa State.
“Her emergence at the helm of Nigeria’s foremost women’s organisation is a testament to her resilience, vision, and commitment to women’s empowerment. It reflects the strength of every Adamawa woman. This civic reception is our way of saying: ‘Well done, we are proud of you,”‘ Agiso said.
According to Agiso, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, will receive the He-for-She Award and be decorated as Champion of Adamawa Women for his inclusive governance and steadfast promotion of women’s rights.
“These personalities have consistently championed the cause of women and have shown commitment to gender equity, leadership, and societal development,” Agiso added.
In addition, grassroots women leaders will receive special recognition, with the formal induction of wives of the 21 local government chairmen as Patrons of NCWS Adamawa to enhance local engagement and leadership.
The event will also witness the unveiling of the maiden edition of the NCWS Adamawa Magazine, showcasing the council’s achievements, initiatives, and advocacy efforts in the state.
The ceremony is expected to attract top dignitaries, government officials, traditional leaders, and gender equality advocates from across the country.
