Kussiy joins 2027 race for Hong/Gombi seat, rallies grassroots support
Architect Julius Jerrison Kussiy has formally declared his intention to contest the Hong/Gombi Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 National Assembly elections.
Kussiy unveiled his ambition on Friday during separate visits to Gombi and Hong Local Government Areas, where he was welcomed by large and enthusiastic crowd.

The gathering brought together a broad coalition of political stakeholders, including party leaders, youth and women groups, community mobilisers, grassroots canvassers and loyal supporters, many of whom pledged unflinching support for his ambition.
Speaking to the supporters, Kussiy said his decision to enter the race was driven by sustained appeals from various segments of the constituency.
According to him, numerous individuals and groups had urged him to contest, citing his experience, work ethics and capacity to represent the people effectively.
“I have received numerous calls from different groups and concerned citizens asking me to vie for this position. Today, I have answered that call,” he said.
He expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, assuring constituents that he would prioritise responsive representation and development-focused legislation if elected.
A longstanding member of the All Progressives Congress, Kussiy reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, noting that he has remained committed to its ideals since inception.
He acknowledged previous attempts to secure elective office but emphasised that he has continued to support the party and its candidates regardless of past outcomes.
Kussiy highlighted his professional background as a consultant and entrepreneur, noting that his work with national and international organisations—including engagements connected to the National Assembly—has equipped him with valuable insight into legislative processes.
He said this exposure places him in a strong position to attract meaningful development projects to the constituency.
“I am not a stranger to the workings of the National Assembly. With my experience and network, I am well-positioned to deliver meaningful development to our people,” he stated.
He also underscored his role as an employer of labour, explaining that his business ventures have provided jobs for many people, while others benefit indirectly from his initiatives.
He pledged that, if elected, he would focus on youth empowerment, skills acquisition and job creation as central pillars of his legislative agenda.
“I am not contesting for personal gain. God has blessed me sufficiently. My ambition is driven by the desire to serve and uplift our people, especially the youth,” he added.
Speakers at the events, representing diverse groups across the constituency, commended Kussiy’s leadership style, generosity and accessibility.
They expressed confidence in his ability to represent the people effectively and pledged to mobilise support for his election bid.
The declaration events were attended by key political figures, including a member representing Gombi constituency in the state House of Assembly, as well as party chairmen from both local government areas, underscoring the significance of his entry into the race.
