FG, Sen. Yaroe Provide Relief for Victims of Lamurde Communal Clashes
The Federal Government, through the National Commission for Refugee, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, in collaboration with the office of the Senator representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, has distributed relief materials to victims of recent communal clashes in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
No fewer than 417 bags of assorted food items, including rice, maize, beans and vegetable oil, were distributed to affected residents in Rugange, Waduku, Gamadio, Balaifi, Kwah and Lamurde communities.
Presenting the items, the Director-General of the Binos Campaign Organisation, Boniface Katawan, said the intervention followed appeals made by Senator Binos to the Federal Government after the attacks left many families displaced and struggling to recover from their losses.

Katawan commended the Federal Government for responding to the plight of the affected communities, describing the intervention as a demonstration of concern for citizens facing humanitarian challenges.
According to him, Senator Binos facilitated the support to provide immediate relief to victims and reassure them that the government has not abandoned them.
He urged residents to embrace peace and coexistence, stressing that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of security and mutual understanding.
“We appeal to all parties to sheath their swords and work towards lasting peace. No community can develop in an environment of persistent conflict,” he said.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and Senator Binos for the gesture.
A representative of the Kwah community, Agnes Jonathan, described the intervention as timely, noting that many families had lost loved ones, homes and means of livelihood as a result of the violence.
“Senator Binos has always stood by us during difficult times. This support will help many affected families cope with the hardship caused by the crisis,” she said.
Also speaking, a former PDP leader from Rugange, Melemedam Sokoto, said the community had suffered repeated attacks over the years, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property.
“Our people have been through a lot. Many homes have been destroyed and several families displaced. This assistance will go a long way in helping victims during this difficult period,” he said.
While thanking the Federal Government for the intervention, Sokoto appealed to both federal and state authorities to find a lasting solution to the recurring violence.
Similarly, a community leader from Waduku, Lento Menti, called for increased security presence in the affected areas to prevent further attacks and safeguard lives and property.
“We appreciate Senator Binos for consistently speaking on behalf of our communities. However, beyond relief materials, there is an urgent need for stronger security measures to ensure lasting peace,” he said.
The affected communities in Lamurde Local Government Area have witnessed recurring communal clashes in recent years, leading to deaths, displacement of residents and destruction of property worth millions of naira.
Stakeholders have continued to call for dialogue, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence among the various communities, warning that the cycle of violence poses a threat to development and social harmony in the area.
They also urged residents and leaders across Adamawa State and Nigeria to embrace peaceful means of resolving disputes in order to promote unity, stability and sustainable development.
