Eid-eil Fitr: Awwal Tukur felicitates with Muslims, calls for sober reflection, deep introspection

A top contender for the position of Adamawa central senatorial ticket under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Awwal D. Tukur has congratulated the Muslim Ummah for the observance of 30-day long fasting culminating in Eid-el Fitr Sallah festival on Monday.

Tukur who urged for sober reflection and deep introspection called on the Muslim Ummah to particularly stick to the spirit of give and take, love for one another, charity, endurance and perseverance which are virtues deeply entrenched in the highly rewarding spiritual exercise.

He urged Muslims to continue to demonstrate the time tested commitment of Islam to the evolution of a peaceful, egalitarian, united and prosperous nation as Islam itself means peace.

“I want to use this auspicious moment to call on all Muslims to reflect on the teachings and values of the one month long spiritual exercise.

“Fasting is one of the spiritual exercises that is responsible for renewed unity, spiritedness and show of brotherhood between Muslims all over the world.

“It is a period in which Muslims are closer to their creator through streams of didactic activities including sermons, feeding the less privileged members of the society, attending preaching sessions and giving of alms.

“This exercises strengthen bond of unity, compassion and love between Muslims and to a greater extent take them closer to their creator. Let us in the rest of the days imbibe the spirit of piety, respect for one another and alms giving that became essential part of us during the fasting period.

“Let us also indulge in prayers for the peace, unity and progress of Adamawa State, Nigeria and the world at large,” Tukur said.

The politician also used the occasion to thank governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the robust leadership he is providing in the state. He also thanked the traditional institution for the roles it is playing towards enhancing peace, unity and progress in the state.
