Adamawa State polytechnic has been affected by the massive windstorm that engulfed the state capital on Thursday, director of works of the institution, Eng Umar Ubale Galadima has disclosed.
Galadima who took newsmen to the various structures affected by the windstorm noted however that the school authority under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Toungo is on top of the matter as it has formulated both short and long term strategies to address the issue.
“On hearing the news that some of our structures have been affected by the thunderstorm, the rector was here early in the morning for on the spot assessment.
“After accessing the situation he promised to deploy resources to ensure the affected structures have been put back to shape in the interim.
“The long term plan of the institution is to indulge in massive tree planting especially around the storey buildings so that the wind can be broken whenever we witness such massive thunderstorm because most of the buildings affected are high rise buildings,” he said.
He said that a number of structures including the school’s 500 seater conference hall, school of science and technology, school of management and school of social science and management sciences as well as some classrooms were affected.
“The damage has not in anyway affected academic activities as they are minor issues. We are trying to address them before they become major challenges in the campus,” he said.
