Bishop Mamza flags off construction of chapel at Yolde Pate correctional center
The Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Reverend Bishop Dami Mamza has today flagged off the construction of a 250 capacity chapel at the Yolde Pate correctional center.
Mamza noted that the exercise was informed by dearth of a prayer facility for the christian inmates adding that such facility ought to have been provided by the government to attend to the spiritual needs of the inmates.

He noted that during his last visit to the correctional facility, the inmates made a request for the construction of a worship center as they noted that the absence of the facility is making worship difficult for them especially during the rainy season.
Mamza who doubles as the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Adamawa State chapter urged christians in the state to contribute towards building of the facility as it will greatly enhance the reformation of the character and faith of the inmates.
He noted that the facility when completed can accommodate no fewer than 250 worshippers at a time expressing optimism that it will cater for the prayer needs of the christians inmates in the facility.
The clergy urged well to do individuals to contribute to the welfare of the inmates noting as some might have found themselves by accident of circumstances and not necessarily through criminality.
Mamza thanked the prison authorities for their cooperation, support and for attending to the serving the inmates with dedication and diligence.
He urged federal government to enhance the welfare of the inmates noting that the provision of worship places for both Christians and Muslims should be the responsibility of the government.
Also speaking, Bishop Ibrahim Amfani who expressed joy over the vision of the CAN chairman to initiate the project, thanked him for his commitment to the development of the church and humanity.
He applauded Mamza for the unprecedented feats he achieved urging other christians to emulate the good virtues of the CAN leader whom he described as a leader who led by example.
Amfani also called on christians to support the building of the chapel so that it will be completed in good time noting that the flag off of the construction marks an epoch in the history of the correctional facility and development of the gospel.
Thanking the Bishop, the assistant controller in charge of Yolde Pate correctional facility, Musa Usman said the gesture will go a long way in the reforming the inmates.
He expressed the willingness of the management to collaborate with individuals and groups to enhance the welfare of the inmates.
