FMC Birnin Kudu commissions 100 bed annex in Taura LG

The management of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Birnin Kudu in Jigawa State has commissioned a 100 bed capacity Child and Maternal Hospital in Taura Local Government Area of the State.

Dr Adamu Abdullahi Atterwharmie, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Center made the disclosure at the formal inauguration of the maternal and Child Hospital in Taura town on Thursday.

He said the hospital was built and equipped with the ultra modern medical equipment by the Federal Government under its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“The facility was initiated by the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals ” he said.

Dr Atterwahmie, added that the facility was recently handed over to the management of the FMC Birnin Kudu by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to serve as the annex of the Federal Medical Centre.

According to him, government would in no distant future engaged qualified medical experts that would man the hospital, saying “we would employ competent hands.”

The Medical Director, explained that the hospital was inaugurated inline with the recent directive of the Honourable Minister of State for health and Social Welfare Dr. Tunji Alausa that such existing facilities should be put to use.

Atterwahmie, emphasized that the hospital would address the medical needs of the people of Jigawa State especially the neighbouring Local Government Areas.

He lauded the Federal Government especially the management of the ministry of Health and Social Welfare for finding (FMC) Birnin Kudu worthy of managing the facility and providing the policy directive on how to manage the hospital.

“We would make the hospital a Mecca of sort by attracting patronage through delivery of quality services” he assured.

Our correspondent reports that the management of the FMC has since deployed a team of medical experts that would man the hospital pending when additional staffs would be employed.
