15,139 bag NCE, as FCE Yola conducts 15th combined convocation ceremony
No fewer than 15,139 graduands bag National Certificate In Education (NCE) today as Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola conducted its 15th combined convocation Saturday.
The combined convocation was part of tripartite events including, 50th anniversary of the collage and the Nigerian College of Education Games (NICEGA) christened (NICOGA) concurrently taking place at the collage.

Provost of the college, Mohammed Usman Degereji, disclosed that since inception, his administration has recorded landmark strides in all facets of the college ecosystem.
Some of the notable achievements recorded by his administration, according to the provost, include, establishment of students hub for easy access to statement of results, certificate and academic transcripts leveraging the online resource.
Other achievements include, provision of free bus service for staff and students for three months in the wake of the fuel subsidy removal, distribution of food palliatives to students to ease hardship occasioned by the subsidy removal, rehabilitation of the college clinic and stocking it with equipment and drugs and the appointment of a qualified medical director from FMC Yola to superintend the facility, amongst many other feats.
He thanked the federal government, Adamawa State government as well as TETFUND, staff and students of the college for their support and understanding culminating in the phenomenal successes recorded by his administration noting that like Oliver Twist, the college will continue to seek for more support from all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the institution, which is the oldest college of education in North East is upgraded.
Also speaking, the visitor to the college and minister of education, Tunji Alausa congratulated the provost, the governing council and the entire FCE Yola community for the tremendous strides recorded in the college.
The minister who was represented by Dr. Yusuf Saeed, director response, coordination and service improvement in the ministry of education pledged to table the college request for upgrade before the minister of education.
He noted that the federal government is consciously putting up policies and measures in place to enhance the development of education including the establishment of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NEL FUND) and working to amend TETFUND’s legislation to secure funding for the initiative.
He charged tertiary institutions to creatively proffer alternative means of addressing some of the gaps in the system so as to reinforce the efforts of the federal government.
Also speaking, Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri lauded the concrete developmental strides and successes recorded by the institution in the last 50 years of its existence.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, professor Kaletapwa Farauta, lauded the current provost for the successful organization of the tripartite events noting that considering the current financial constraints in the country, the FCE administration must be commended.
He noted that his administration is working tirelessly to improve education at all levels which necessitated more funding and strengthening of the sector for the good of the younger generation.
According to Farauta, the state enjoys robust synergy with FCE Yola and all tertiary institutions which is responsible for the support the government extends to all tertiary institutions in the state.
Some of the policies and reforms championed by the state to support educational development according to the deputy governor, include, scholarship awards, provision of buses for schools to aid transportation, building of new schools across the three senatorial zones of the state and providing incentives and funding for all organs of education in the state.
