MD FMC B-Kudu bags award of excellence
The Youth and Civil Society Coalition for Development (YCSCD), in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has presented an Award of Excellence to the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Birnin Kudu, Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwharmie, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the healthcare sector.
Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, the National President of YCSCD, Comrade Aminu Aminu, explained that the decision to honor Dr. Atterwharmie was based on his exceptional dedication, hard work, honesty, transparency, and accountability in managing the hospital over the past two years. According to him, the Medical Director has demonstrated exemplary leadership and has significantly improved the quality of healthcare services at FMC Birnin Kudu.

He further stated that the award was presented in collaboration with NITDA, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Fitra Hub. He emphasized that Dr. Atterwharmie was being recognized not only for his professional achievements but also for his commitment to fairness, equality, and strict adherence to the Federal Character principle in the recruitment of hospital staff.
“We presented this award to acknowledge his commitment to equity, equality, and fairness, particularly in ensuring a transparent and merit-based recruitment process at FMC Birnin Kudu,” Comrade Aminu Aminu stated.
The event also featured remarks from former Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Uba Bala Ringim, who praised Dr. Atterwharmie for his integrity and dedication to duty. He recalled his personal interactions with the Medical Director during their time in Borno State, where he observed his remarkable work ethic, honesty, and professionalism.
“I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Atterwharmie on an official level in Borno, and I found him to be a highly responsible and hardworking individual, in addition to being a man of great humility and respect,” DIG Ringim stated.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Adamu Aliyu Kiyawa, the Danmasanin Dutse and District Head of Kiyawa who formally presented the award, described Dr. Atterwharmie as a role model in the healthcare sector. He emphasized that the decision to honor him was a reflection of his outstanding service to the community and his unwavering commitment to excellence.
“Dr. Atterwharmie is a man of exceptional character and dedication. His leadership at FMC Birnin Kudu has brought positive transformation, and this award is well deserved,” Dr. Kiyawa said.
The award presentation ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, healthcare professionals, and community leaders who commended Dr. Atterwharmie for his contributions to healthcare development in Jigawa State and beyond.
This recognition serves as an acknowledgment of his visionary leadership, commitment to transparency, and efforts in strengthening healthcare delivery at FMC Birnin Kudu, making him a respected figure in the medical community.
