2027 presidential polls: Adamawa Progressive Elders Council endorses Tinubu
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council (APEC) has formally endorsed His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for re-election in the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its commitment to the unity and progress of the party in Adamawa State.
This resolution was reached at a well-attended meeting of the Council held on Saturday, 17th January 2026, at Muna Hotel, Yola.

The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council is an APC support group established following the recommendations of the APC Reconciliation Committee and subsequently adopted by the Leader of the Party in Adamawa State.
The Council was constituted to promote peace, internal harmony, reconciliation, and collective strength within the party, with a clear mandate to build a formidable APC structure capable of delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 electoral cycle.
A statement signed by Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr Chairman, Media and Publicity committee said the meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Council and attended by an array of eminent party stakeholders, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, former Governors, serving and former Ministers, former members of the National and State Assemblies, former State Cabinet Members, current Federal Appointees, and other high-profile APC leaders from across the state.
Members of the Adamawa State APC leadership were also present to lend their support to the process.
According to Sajoh, major highlight of the meeting was a powerful goodwill message from the Leader of the APC in Adamawa State, conveyed through the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development.
”The message served as a strong morale booster and further reinforced the resolve of the Elders Council to remain steadfast in its mission,” he said.
He noted that in an 8 point communique signed by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei and the Secretary of the Council, Mrs Olvadi Bema Madayi, the Council took the following decisions:
”The Council expressed deep appreciation to the Leader of the Party in Adamawa State and the State Party Leadership for the establishment of the Council and the continuous support it enjoys.
”The Council reaffirmed its absolute loyalty and commitment to the APC and to the successful execution of its mandate.
”The Council, comprising prominent APC members drawn from all 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State, unanimously joined other notable individuals and groups to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027, citing his bold leadership, reform agenda, and commitment to national development.
”The Council commended President Tinubu for appointing the Leader of the Party in Adamawa State to one of the most sensitive and strategic positions in government.
”It also expressed appreciation for the various federal appointments extended to Adamawa indigenes. As a mark of gratitude, the Council resolved to organize a grand rally and reception in honour of all political appointees, in appreciation of the President’s goodwill towards the state.
”The Council applauded the presentations made by the Steering Committee and the Secretariat and reaffirmed its commitment to the resolutions of the inaugural meeting, particularly the provision requiring any member of the Elders Council with electoral ambitions to resign from the Council to preserve its neutrality and moral authority.
”The meeting resolved to fully support the Chairman and the Steering Committee in developing operational frameworks and activity timelines for the effective functioning of the Council.
”All proposals presented by the Steering Committee were unanimously endorsed, with a collective commitment to ensure their diligent implementation for the overall success of the APC in Adamawa State.
”The Council further resolved to cascade its activities to the Local Government and Ward levels to strengthen grassroots engagement, facilitate early identification of disputes, and ensure prompt conflict resolution before issues escalate.
”The meeting approved the establishment of four standing committees as follows:
Finance and General Purpose Committee – chaired by Mrs. Olvadi Bema Madayi
Contact and Mobilization Committee – chaired by Chief Joel Hammanjoda Madaki; Conflict Resolution Committee – chaired by Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN
Media and Publicity Committee – chaired by Ahmad Sajoh,” the statement said.
Sajoh said, the Council expressed profound appreciation to members and supporters who contributed in cash and kind toward the success of the meeting and thanked all attendees for their active participation and dedication to the ideals of the party.
