Atiku endorses harmonised Adamawa ADC exco, donates ₦10m for mobilisation
Former Vice President of Nigeria and Waziri Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar, has formally endorsed the newly harmonised leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, marking a significant step towards consolidating unity and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of future political engagements.
With the development, Adamawa ADC is expected to regain balance following sharp disagreement and power tussles which led to the splinter of the party along three groups.

The position was disclosed via a communiqué issued and signed by the organizing secretary of the party, Saidu Njobdi Komsiri at the end of a consultative meeting between Atiku Abubakar and the Adamawa State Executive Committee (SEC) of the ADC, held on January 26, 2027, at the Waziri Adamawa’s residence in Abuja.
Komsiri disclosed that the meeting was led by the Adamawa State Chairman of the ADC, Mr. Shehu Yohana, and was convened to brief Waziri on the successful harmonization of the party’s leadership in the state, seek his guidance and endorsement, and align the party’s strategic direction ahead of mobilisation activities and forthcoming nationwide congresses.
According to the communiqué, Atiku Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the reconciliation and harmonization process that culminated in the emergence of a 44-member Adamawa State Executive Committee.
He formally approved and endorsed the newly constituted EXCO as presented by the SEC, paving the way for its submission to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for ratification.
Komsiri noted that the former vice president commended the peaceful resolution of leadership disputes that had previously affected the Adamawa chapter of the ADC.
The organizing secretary noted that the replacement of vacant leadership positions, arising from death, defections and incapacitation was carried out in line with the undertaking agreement jointly executed by all major blocs and stakeholders within the party.
“These include the Shehu Yohana Kambile bloc, the Komsiri bloc, the Ibrahim Sadiq Dasin Transition Committee, and the Adamawa State Chapter Leader of the ADC, Muhammad Usman Shuwa,” he said.
He noted that in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s presence across the state, Atiku Abubakar also endorsed a proposed statewide familiarisation tour by the harmonised EXCO.
“The tour will cover the 21 local government areas, 226 wards and 4,104 polling units in Adamawa State, with the objective of re-energising party structures, engaging members and rebuilding confidence at the grassroots,” the Communiqué added.
Komsiri added that in further demonstrating his commitment to party growth, the Waziri Adamawa approved the reconstitution and harmonization of ADC leadership structures at all levels of the party in the state, particularly where vacancies exist.
This grassroots-focused approach, he noted, is essential for effective mobilisation and sustainable party expansion.
In a major boost to the party’s activities, Atiku Abubakar announced a donation of ₦10 million to support the Membership Mobilisation, Registration and Revalidation (MMRR) exercise in Adamawa State.
According to the communique, the donation underscores Atiku’s resolve to strengthen the ADC’s membership base and enhance its organisational capacity.
“The former vice president also urged the Adamawa ADC leadership to begin early preparations for the impending nationwide party congresses, subject to approval by the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark. He stressed the importance of internal democracy, preparedness and unity as the party positions itself for future national engagements,” he noted.
Accordingly, Atiku Abubakar commended the Adamawa State EXCO for restoring peace, unity and stability within the party after a prolonged period of internal crisis.
He said the former vice president expressed confidence in the ability of the current leadership to reposition the ADC as a formidable political force in the state through effective grassroots mobilisation and inclusive leadership.
The communiqué reaffirmed Waziri Adamawa’s unflinching support for the African Democratic Congress in Adamawa State and called on party members, stakeholders and supporters to rally behind the harmonised leadership in the collective pursuit of growth and electoral success.
