Adamawa APC chieftain, Danarewa applauds party’s rapproachment with Wike
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Alhaji Uba Danarewa, has commended the national leadership of the party for what he described as a timely and strategic shift from hostility to reconciliation in its engagement with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.
Speaking in an interview with our reporter, Danarewa praised the renewed efforts by the APC to establish bridges of unity and dialogue with Wike, noting that the new posture marks a sharp departure from the party’s earlier hard-line stance toward the former Rivers State governor.

According to him, confrontation and exclusion will only deepened the political impasse in the state, while dialogue and inclusion offer a more sustainable path to peace.
Danarewa has last week expressed deep concern over what he termed the earlier maltreatment of Wike by some elements within the party, warning that such an approach was counterproductive and capable of worsening tensions in Rivers State.
He argued that calm, mediation and political maturity were required to stabilize the state and protect the broader interests of the APC.
The Adamawa APC chieftain emphasized that although Wike is not a formal member of the ruling party, his political relevance and contributions to the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election cannot be ignored.
He added that Wike’s continued influence ahead of the 2027 general elections makes him too significant an ally for the APC to alienate.
Danarewa specifically lauded the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, for what he described as a commendable detour from his previous hostile posture toward Wike.
He noted that Basiru’s new tone of reconciliation signals political wisdom and a willingness to prioritize party stability over settling personal scores against Wike.
Corroborating Danarewa’s position, Basiru recently acknowledged that the APC is actively working to resolve the Rivers State political crisis, stressing that all stakeholders stand to benefit from the peace building process.
In a television interview, the national secretary confirmed that Wike is part of the ongoing reconciliation efforts, citing his support for President Tinubu and his strong political influence in Rivers State.
Basiru also hinted at broader realignments within the state, expressing optimism about future developments, including the anticipated formal reception of Governor Siminalayi Fubara into the APC.
