
Adamawa elders hail Yilwatda, Shuaibu over APC national leadership victories
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council has congratulated Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and Barrister Idris Shuaibu on their emergence as National Chairman and National Vice Chairman (North East) respectively of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing their victories as well-deserved and symbolic of renewed confidence in progressive leadership.
In separate press statements issued on March 30, 2026, and signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Ahmad I. Sajoh, the Council, led by Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), expressed pride in the duo, noting that their elections mark a significant milestone for both Adamawa State and the APC at large.

Congratulating Professor Yilwatda, the Council described his emergence as a “momentous occasion” that reflects his exceptional leadership qualities, dedication, and the trust he has built within the party. General Marwa stated that Yilwatda’s election comes at a critical time in Nigeria’s political journey, emphasizing that his leadership would help reposition the party for greater national impact.
“We are immensely proud to see a man with acknowledged progressive credentials assume this important role,” Marwa said, adding that the development underscores the APC’s commitment to inclusivity and progress. He expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s capacity to lead the party to greater heights while contributing to national development.
In a similar vein, the Council lauded Barrister Shuaibu on his election as APC National Vice Chairman for the North East, describing it as a proud moment for Adamawa State. The Council highlighted his track record as the immediate past APC State Chairman in Adamawa, noting his ability to manage complex political challenges and deliver results.
Marwa commended Shuaibu’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to the growth of the APC, stating that his emergence reflects the confidence reposed in him by party stakeholders across the region. “His success is a source of pride for our state and a clear indication of the trust the party places in his leadership,” he said.
The Council further expressed optimism that Shuaibu would play a pivotal role in strengthening the APC in the North East and advancing the interests of the region and the nation.
Reaffirming its loyalty, the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council pledged full support and prayers for both leaders as they assume their new responsibilities.
