Moniedafe questions membership criteria of Adamawa progressive elders council
A prominent political figure in Adamawa State, Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe, has raised concerns over the process and criteria used in constituting the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council, describing it as opaque, exclusionary, and potentially driven by political patronage.
Moniedafe, who expressed deep resentment with the omission of high caliber personalities and astute political figures who have paid their dues from the council, argued that the selection process lacked fairness and transparency.

According to him, several individuals who meet the expected standards of age, political alignment, loyalty and experience were neither consulted nor considered.
“I will be 70 years soon, an elder by every standard and I have never been a member of the PDP. How come no one is inviting me?” he questioned, underscoring what he sees as a contradiction in the council’s composition.
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council, reportedly formed to serve as a body of experienced stakeholders to entrench peace, unity and overall cohesion came under serious scrutiny by Moniedafe who believe its formation may not reflect inclusiveness or merit.
Moniedafe maintained that his longstanding involvement in progressive politics, coupled with his experience and loyalty to the APC, should have qualified him for inclusion.
He stressed that the absence of widely recognized figures like himself raises serious questions about the credibility of the selection process.
He further alleged that the criteria used in choosing members of the council were “skewed,” suggesting that some individuals included may not necessarily meet the expected benchmarks. “It is trite that very important platforms are being misappropriated for political patronage,” he said, warning that such practices could undermine the integrity and purpose of the council.
He called on the leadership of the council to clarify the guidelines used in its formation and to ensure that the body reflects a broad spectrum of experienced and committed stakeholders across the state.
