Stakeholders say the growing acceptance of Dr. Tariq is not unconnected with his long-standing involvement in humanitarian activities, community support initiatives and grassroots engagement which earned him respect across renowned political blocs.
Many supporters believe that the constituency is in need of a representative who understands the daily realities of the people and possesses both the professional competence and human relations necessary to attract development to the area.
According to party loyalists, Dr. Tariq has consistently demonstrated these qualities through years of service to humanity and intervention in critical social issues.
A medical practitioner by profession, Dr. Tariq is widely regarded as a grassroots mobiliser and community pillar whose contributions to public welfare have touched many lives, particularly among vulnerable groups.
His supporters point to his interventions in healthcare support, youth mentorship and humanitarian outreach as evidence of his commitment to societal development beyond politics.
Critical stakeholders within the APC in the constituency have also expressed confidence that his candidacy will strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 elections. They argue that the growing public trust and goodwill around his ambition make him the strongest aspirant in the race.
Speaking during a recent consultative meeting with supporters and party loyalists, Dr. Tariq said his ambition is driven by the desire to empower the people and expand opportunities for young persons and women across the constituency.
He noted that unemployment, inadequate healthcare services and limited economic opportunities remain major challenges confronting many communities within the federal constituency.
According to him, if given the opportunity to serve, he would prioritise skills acquisition programmes, support for small businesses, improved access to healthcare services and attract meaningful federal government projects capable of stimulating economic growth in the area.
He further pledged to champion people-oriented legislation that would directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens while ensuring prudent and transparent utilisation of public resources.
“Our people deserve quality representation that listens to their concerns and works sincerely for their progress. I want to be part of a new generation of leadership that focuses on development, empowerment and accountability,” he reportedly told supporters during one of his engagements.
The growing momentum around his aspiration is also being fuelled by increasing calls from party members for the emergence of candidates with proven integrity, accessibility and grassroots connection ahead of the next election cycle.
Several APC supporters across the constituency maintained that the party must present candidates capable of uniting the people and sustaining confidence among voters. They stressed that Dr. Tariq’s track record in community service and his relationship with ordinary citizens place him in a favourable position ahead of the primaries.
