71-yr-old man in Adamawa police custody over alleged killing of 67-yr-old spouse
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, following a domestic dispute in Demsa Local Government Area.
A statement by the image maker of Adamawa State Police command SP Sulaiman Nguroje said, the tragic incident occurred on November 6, 2025, after a misunderstanding between the couple at a beer parlour escalated into violence.

During the altercation, the suspect reportedly attacked his wife, stabbing her multiple times with a knife and striking her with an axe.
”Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Demsa Division swiftly arrived at the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead while receiving treatment. Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” the police PPRO said.
Nguroje said the suspect was immediately apprehended, and the weapons used in the attack, a knife and an axe were recovered as exhibits.
Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, described the act as unfortunate and inhuman.
He directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution.
The Police Commissioner further warned against domestic violence, urging citizens to embrace dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution. He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to ensure justice is served and that offenders are held fully accountable for their actions.
